Make Me Brave

In my devotion this week I was challenged to think about God singing over me, like a parent singing lullabies over their child. I have never envisioned God this way….singing. But it is a peaceful vision that has been placed in my head about how my God views me. It takes love to sing a lullaby to a child like me, who drives the Lord crazy on a daily basis with my own insecurities and struggles. But He stays there, singing and comforting me, through the emotional rollercoasters of each day.

I also found myself singing to Him more this week. I have this playlist on YouTube that I will put on in the morning for my drive to work and one song continues to play in my head throughout the day.

“You Make Me Brave” by Amanda Cook. (Listen Here: https://youtu.be/_UglO7SGUWk )

Your love, in wave after wave

Crashes over me, crashes over me

For You are for us

You are not against us

Champion of Heaven

You made a way for all to enter in

'Cause you make me brave

You make me brave

You call me out beyond the shore into the waves

You make me brave

You make me brave

No fear can hinder now the love that made a way

You make me brave

You make me brave

You call me out beyond the shore into the waves

You make me brave

You make me brave

No fear can hinder now the promises you made

This month at LCS we are challenging each other to #BeTheOne to show love. It strikes me how the only way I can have the capacity to show the love that God has lavished on me is by allowing His love to wash over me. His love truly makes me brave. Brave to love and care for those that are not easy to love. Brave to take a stand against the hate that we see in the world. Brave to have tough conversations with those that I love so that we can grow together.

I envision His love washing over me like sweet lullabies flowing from His lips, like a mother standing in a kitchen with her baby in her arms as she softly sways and sings to her child. So if I am going to be brave and able to show love to others I need to make sure I have allowed time with my Savior to sing over me. His love washing over me makes me  brave and I don’t want to miss the opportunity to experience His love.

Make time to have God’s love wash over you this week, so you can be brave.
