#Words Matter Spoken Word Video contest rules 2019

  1. Eligibility. Anyone can enter the competition, except for staff members of Lutheran Counseling Services (LCS), and their respective spouses, parents, siblings, and children. Submissions from both individuals and groups are accepted.
    1. Winner/s: Once selected the winner/s will be required to send their full name, address, a short biography and a photo to be used in the promotion of the competition.
    2. Under 18s: If you are under 18 you are eligible to participate in this Contest or appear in a video only if you obtain your parents’ or legal guardians’ express permission to participate. Proof of express permission may be requested.
  2. Organizer. The organizers of this contest is Lutheran Counseling Services, LLC
  3. Deadline. The Spoken Word Video Contest closes on MARCH 1st, 2019. (EST 23:59). Submissions received after this time will not be considered.
  4. Prizes. The top 5 winning video submitter(s) will receive a Target giftcard in the following amounts:  $50 will be awarded to 1st place, $40 to 2nd place, $30 to 3rd place, $20 to 4th place & $10 to 5th place.  
  5. Length and format. Your video should be a minimum of 15 seconds long and a maximum of 2 minutes.  It should be in standard YouTube format (16:9 aspect ratio).
  6. The video should be in spoken word format, and should address the theme of #WordsMatter to show how powerful words can be in impacting mental health.  It should address the importance of spreading caring and kindness in the world.
  7. Submit your entry. Upload your video to YouTube, mark it as public and the e-mail the link to Schools@LCSfl.com.  Or the video can be e-mailed directly to Schools@LCSfl.com.  Include the following description:
    1.  team member name
    2. an email address where we can contact you
    3. a statement along these lines: This is our entry to the 2019 #WordsMatter video competition with LCSfl.com
    4. a very brief explanation of how words impact mental health and the importance of promoting caring and kindness
  8. Once we receive your entry we will add it to a playlist on our website LCSfl.com.  Videos are due by MARCH 1st, 2019.
  9. LCS will select and announce their top 5 videos by March 8, 2019. Videos will be posted to the LCS website and winners will be determined by the number of “likes” or “shares” they generate between March 8 and March 15th. Let your friends and family know to “like” and share your video!  1 point will be awarded for each “like” on Facebook & Instagram, and 1 point will be awarded for each “share” on Facebook.  All points will be totaled for determination of winners. The order of the winners will be announced on March 16, 2019.  
  10. Filming others. Always get express permission from anyone who will appear in your video, this includes all faces that may appear in your video.
  11. Don’t film other companies’ logos. Do not include any logos, trademarks, designs, or other intellectual property or commercial property in your film
  12. Anything mean will be taken down. No offensive or sensitive content is tolerated, including but not limited to racial, political, obscene, illegal or violent content.
  13. Only your work. You may only submit films that you have worked on yourself. Use of others’ work without permission will automatically disqualify a submission.
  14. LCS will get full rights to the video(s) you submit. By submitting your entry to this Contest, you grant LCS a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive right and license to copy, distribute, and display each submitted entry, in any media including posting in an online gallery, publication(s), and various marketing materials, and with right to use, copy, modify, edit, and create derivative works therefrom, and agree to execute documents confirming such right and license at the Organizers’ reasonable request. By entering or permitting your child to enter, you understand that your/their entry (or portion thereof) may be (re-)posted online, in the Organizers’ sole discretion, to be viewed by members of the general public.
  15. Waiver. By participating in this Video Contest, you agree that LCS will have no liability whatsoever (jointly and severally) for, and will be held harmless by the entrant team (jointly and severally) for any liability for any bodily injury, violation of personality or personal data, loss, cost or damages of any kind to persons, including death and property, damages sustained due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your creation, use, or intended use of your entry, participation in this Contest, and the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize.
  16. Disputes. Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of, or in relation to, this contract, shall be resolved by contacting the Director of Lutheran Counseling Services.
  17. Instagram and Facebook are not affiliated with the Contest in any way and are not responsible for the administration of the Contest or the awarding of the prize.
